Diploma Students working with KEA
Twelve Year 10 IT Diploma students have been working with Knowsley Enterprise Academy since January 2009 on a range of activities to enhance their understanding of different businesses and how they operate.
The aim of the course is to develop students’ teamwork communication and problem solving skills through business focused challenges and teambuilding tasks. Students are introduced to different types of businesses to enhance their awareness of how technology is used within different organization and the skills required to succeed in business. They visited a range of businesses including Aerelink, Acorn Farm, Your Travel Borough Wide, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Jaguar Land Rover.
This Year, the students also ran a project and worked together as a team to promote the Conference Centre facilities on North Mersey Business Centre. The met and worked with key staff form both Knowsley Enterprise Academy and Knowsley Development Trust to devise a strategy to promote the facilities.
They identified potential clients to market and produced a database for a mailshot. Students designed a range of posters, leaflets, invitations and newsletters to promote the conference facilities.
On July 14th, the group welcomed invited guests, served them with refreshments and hosted tours of all the different conference and meeting room facilities. The day was a huge success and students were able to demonstrate all of the skills they had gained through their involvement in the project.
All Students involved in the project achieved an OCN Level 1 Step Up Award.
